In 1919 Percy Healey formed "The Healey Meter Company" at Hockley in Birmingham, relocating to our current location at Ludlow, Shropshire in 1947.
 
British Physical Laboratories (BPL) was formed  at Hendon, North London in 1939, since which time it has relocated to the home counties and has been operating from Bedfordshire since 1981.
 
The companies were merged in 1985 to become BPL-Healey, and continue to trade today as BENCHMARK INSTRUMENTS LIMITED with a combined trading exceeding 150 years.
 
Quality Assurance and Manufacturing are in strict accordance to ISO 9002.

The company obtained ISO approval in 1995, having previously held the Defence Standard 0524, which was superseded by the British Standard BS5750 which in turn was replaced by AQAP 4, leading to the current ISO approval.
 
In conjunction with our quality approval, our products have been tested and approved to Defence Standard 66-9 Part 1 Issue 2.

Our Pioneer range of hermetically sealed instruments are used in the British Army Challenger Tanks.
